ABOUT
Born and raised in New York City, Dion Ogust has been part of the Woodstock, NY community since the 1980’s.
Known for her portrait photography and photojournalism especially in the Hudson Valley, her photography work has been printed worldwide. As a staff photographer with The Woodstock Times and Ulster Publishing she photographed the political stories, the lives of artists and families and businesses as well as the changing landscape of Ulster County and Woodstock.
Dion’s first exhibit of black and white photographs was in early 90's at the Watermark Gallery in Kingston, NY, and at the Kleinert Gallery (Woodstock Byrdcliffe Guild). Another large solo exhibit was at WAA/WAAM (Woodstock Artist Association/& Museum) in 2001. Photo assignments led her work to appear in magazines, newspapers, promotional material for musicians and artists around the world.
As a photographer experimenting with painting on photos, Dion explored a more formal study of art with Nicholas Buhalis at the Woodstock School of Art in the 1980's. With her photography work in demand, she took a break from her art pursuits, returning to it in the 2010's — a re-balance of life — diving into printmaking and painting, studying with Kate McGloughlin and other artists at the Woodstock School of Art.
Over the years her paintings and photographs have been exhibited in the northeast including The Wired Gallery, High Falls, NY; The Woodstock Framing Gallery, Woodstock, NY; The Kleinert/James Center for the Arts, Woodstock, NY; The Center For Photography, Woodstock, NY; The Woodstock School of Art, Woodstock, NY; The Lodge at Woodloch, Hawley, PA: and the Washington Art Association, Washington Depot, CT; and recently at the Grand Palais, in Paris, France.
Photographs and paintings are in collections in New York, Chicago and Los Angeles.
